Traveling to Italy

If you are unfamiliar with traveling to Italy, please check the Italian Tourist Board where you can find updated information for tourists, or the US Department of State website.

American citizens do not require a visa to enter Italy if planning to stay under 90 days. However, your passport must be valid for at least six months after your planned departure date.  Make sure to get your passport well ahead of time or ensure it is renewed to cover this trip. By Sea

Naples is one of the main ferry ports on the Bay of Naples and Amalfi coast with daily departures to several destinations, including Positano, Sorrento, Amalfi, Minori, and Cetara.

Hydrofoils and ferries to the Amalfi Coast leave from Molo Beverello which is very central and is on the Alibus network (public bus) which links them to the main station and the Naples Airport. Taxi is the most efficient way to reach the port from either the station or airport. Taxis use meters and do not need to be tipped. From the airport to the central station or to the port, there are flat fees. The rates must be published (generally on the back of the front seats). Ask the driver when on board if you don’t see them . Link to Taxis.
